BEING AN AVID WATERFOWLER
and gamebird hunter for so many
years, and wanting to collect all of the
North American ducks, geese, and
gamebirds for my studio, I’ve always pondered
the “what if ’s” in the North American wingshooting
world. What if passenger pigeons
weren’t extinct? Could friends meet midday on
a Saturday afternoon, spread out across a freshly
cut millet or sorghum field, find a bit of shade
under a tall broad-leafed red oak, and wait for
an afternoon flight of the beautiful doves?
